Job Description

Responsible for payroll and benefit data entry, audit and balancing required to deliver an accurate, on time settlement of the semi-monthly payroll for the full time and part time SGI and SGI CANADA companies.
Prepares and processes the payments for the Board of Directors (quarterly retainers and related expenses).
Reviews and audits transactions processed through Workday to determine accuracy of payroll results and identifies and reports any discrepancies found.
Reconciles and prepares year end tax forms, including all required adjustment and remittances.
Completes semi-monthly and year end reconciliation and remittances relating to provincial and federal tax withholdings.
Identifies and manages all employee receivables.
Ensures the accuracy of the benefit premiums deductions for all employees.
Prepares and completes all premium payments (i.e. pension, life insurance, etc.)
Prepares and submits all records of employment.
Reconciles and maintains payroll related general ledger accounts and investigates and resolves discrepancies.
Communicates and resolves payroll issues with employees at all levels of the organization.
Prepares journal entries as required.

Proficient skill in payroll processing including calculating, reviewing, recording and reconciling payroll transactions.
Proficient knowledge of Legislative Acts, Regulations and the CBA as they relate to payroll and accounting principles and practices.
Proficient knowledge of benefits and their application to the payroll function (i.e. taxability, deductions, payments).
Fundamental skill in preparing routine accounting entries pertaining to payroll accounts.
Two-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business, or defined equivalency.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification.
1 – 2 years’ experience in payroll.

The Payroll Administrator is responsible to accurately review, process and finalize the payroll for SGI, SGI CANADA and the Board of directors in accordance with company and regulatory requirement. The Payroll Practitioner prepares journal entries and reconciliation of payroll related accounts according to established procedures and other payroll related functions including payments and reporting to external agencies, interpretation and application of the Income Tax Act, Labour Standard Legislation and CBA as it pertains to payroll.
