      Our Business Support Centre in Galway city was established in 2018 and has grown its headcount to 48 employees. The team supports the Quidel business in the EMEA region across Customer Services, Supply Chain, Technical Services, Finance, HR, Legal and Information Technology.

      Your New Role:

      We are seeking an experienced professional to manage the EMEA & India payroll accounting from our Ireland location. The Payroll and General Ledger Accountant will prepare and record all payroll-related journal entries, reconcile payroll accounts every month, and work with the rest of the Accounting team to execute the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented, collaborative, and a strong communicator with a commitment to accuracy, friendliness, and responsiveness in order to deliver excellent customer service to our employees. This role is a maternity leave cover with a fix term contract for 12 months.

      What you will be doing:

      • Effectively manage the monthly payroll recording for all EMEA & India employees
      • Coordinate payments to employees, tax authorities, benefits providers and pension schemes
      • Responsible for preparing all payroll-related journal entries in the general ledger on a monthly basis, as well as payroll-related account reconciliations
      • Assist management with the financial close process
      • Maintain schedule of company cars, including terms of lease and relevant BIK for individual employee
      • Prepare relevant reports and analysis for management
      • Perform variance analysis comparing budgets versus actual payroll expenses
      • Ensure that payroll related internal controls are in-place and operating effectively
      • Participate in cross-functional project teams (HR, IT, outside vendors) to drive successful delivery of process improvements for EMEA payroll
      • Maintain positive working relationships with internal partners to achieve high quality results
      • Interacting with employees and leadership throughout EMEA, with corporate Finance team in the U.S. for purposes of sharing financial data

      What you need to succeed:

      • BS/BA degree, preferably in Business Administration, Accounting, HR or Information Systems
      • 5+ years of a combination of accounting/payroll experience (multi-national company experience highly preferred)
      • Strong skills Experience with Microsoft Office Suite,
      • Prior experience with payroll in Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy preferred
      • Demonstrated process improvement experience
      • Customer service-oriented with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
      • Significant knowledge of international payroll processes, regulations and requirements including workers compensation, and employee benefits, etc.
      • Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
