      Responsibilities
      • Ensure payroll policy and procedures are maintained and updated.
      • Direct the analysis, preparation and input of payroll data. Typically uses automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
      • Facilitate management and employee understanding of payroll procedures.
      • Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
      • Maintain current on Payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits and other related departments to ensure effective accounting support.
      • Identify and implement payroll activity process improvements and best practices to drive process excellence and eliminate errors.
      • Develop payroll metrics to track performance of the department and cost of the function.
      • Ensure that payroll records and reports are in compliance with US government / tax regulations including management of all government payroll audits.
      • Accountable for the accuracy of all system generated direct deposits, taxes, garnishments and checks, including computation and calculation of special checks for overtime, bonus pay, vacation pay, and termination pay.
      • Manage staff to accomplish results through training, development, performance management and recognition.
      • Maintain effective internal controls for the payroll function and proactively work with management to identify efficiency improvements and gaps.
      • Responsible for Year end W2 processing.
      • Responsible for SOX testing and compliance.
      • Manage projects and annual department goals
      • Perform other duties as assigned
      Qualifications
      • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in related field.
      • Seven plus years of related, progressive work experience.
      • Proficiency in software skills to create spreadsheets and databases and to extract information. Familiarity with payroll processing software. Strong math skills to calculate payments and deductions.
      • Effective oral and written communication skills.
      • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
      • Strong understanding of state and federal requirements for both payroll and tax.
      • Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred.
