Job Summary:
This position is responsible for administering US payroll processes for both salaried and hourly employees including maintaining the integrity of the payroll information and related benefit plan information.
The payroll specialist is a key internal resource responsible for transparent communication between management and the Union. The position will instrumental in improving and executing policy enhancements within Kalsec.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Prepare weekly payroll transmittal files for both hourly and salaried employees.
a. Ensures timely reporting and payment of the employer's and employees' withholding taxes and miscellaneous withholdings to appropriate agency.
b. Filing all payroll related governmental reports on a timely basis to the respective units including 941’s and annual W-2 preparation
c. Maintains all court ordered payroll deductions and requests payment to the required agencies.
2. Coordinate payroll related processes including cross-functional activities within the Finance, Operation, Human Resources and Information Systemes departments.
3. Serve as a primary point of contact for Union employees on payroll related matters.
4. Complete related reports, taxes, and audit information.
a. Retains all hourly information needed for the Union Pension Plan including loan agreements and repayments to the plan
5. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service while increasing communication.
a. Focuses on automating payroll processes wherever appropriate
Education/Experience:
Required:
· 3-5 years of prior experience in a Payroll related position
· Strong computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Excel and Word.
· Experience working with UKG or similar Human Capital Management System.
· Four-year degree with a concentration in business or related field
Desired:
· Demonstrated capability of working with a union or directly with hourly employees
Equipment Operation :
· General office equipment
Physical Requirements:
· Ascending and descending stairs
· Work environment may occasionally be dusty from spice particles.
· Lifting up to 20-30 lbs on occasion.
· Sitting for long periods of time at a computer (up to 3 hrs at a time.)
Travel:
· No more than quarterly trips to Texas location
