Review approved employment forms to determine names, rates of pay, bargaining unit status, hours, terminations, leaves of absence, and other necessary information related to wage payments.
Prepare and input payroll data including vacations, wage assignments/garnishments, and voluntary deductions; investigate and resolve discrepancies as needed.
Process and prepare payroll checks and direct deposits for timely distribution.
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including changes to vacation balances, hours worked, and address updates.
Manage unscheduled payroll transactions such as voiding checks, issuing stop payments, and preparing manual checks for emergency leaves, terminations, or late vacation payouts.
Handle payroll adjustments including shortages, garnishments, manual gross-to-net calculations, bonuses, and incentives, ensuring proper verification and documentation.
Prepare periodic payroll-related reports and analyses for internal use and compliance.
Ensure payroll processing aligns with union and utility contract provisions, maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Provide support to employees and supervisors regarding payroll inquiries, policies, and procedures.
Collaborate with other payroll team members to ensure coverage during absences or high-volume periods.
Assist field employees and operations teams with payroll-related needs.
Maintain confidentiality and security of all employee payroll records.
Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned.
Working knowledge of company payroll policies and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive data with discretion.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ability to learn payroll software systems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and best practices in payroll administration.
