      Salary Range: $49000.00 - $52000.00 Salary

      Payroll/Accounts Payable Coordinator

      The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is hiring a full-time Payroll/Accounts Payable Coordinator within our Finance Department reporting to the Museum’s Controller. This position supports MPM by facilitating the accurate and timely processing of payroll as well as the processing of invoices, statements, and credit memos.

      Candidates for this position will be expected to perform the following duties:

      • Process employee payroll information, verify and finalize approval all payroll changes entered via the computerized HRIS system
      • Ensure status changes and audits of timecards are accurate and any discrepancies are addressed and resolved
      • Prepare bi-weekly 401(k) Retirement Plan Reports
      • Assist, monitor, calculate, and perform other duties relating to benefit programs including vacation, holiday pay, sick pay, health insurance, medical reimbursement, life insurance, pension, and long-term disability
      • Work with MPM staff to ensure invoices are coded with correct general ledger accounts
      • Generate disbursements for vendors as well as set up and maintain vendor and contractor 1099s
      • Print accounts payable reports and ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of sub-ledger with the general ledger

      Education and/or Experience:

      • Have an associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school
      • Have three years experience relating to payroll and/or accounting
      • Have equivalent combination of experience/education

      Competencies:

      • Experience with accounting systems, Great Plains preferred
      • Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel and Word
      • Able to read, analyze and interpret documents such as invoice, bank deposit slips, and general business periodicals
      • Ability to make independent evaluations and decisions utilizing analytical skills
      • The ability to work independently
      • Proficient mathematical skills to calculate figures and amounts such as payroll deductions, state and federal taxes, social security taxes and percentages
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to sensitive employee information via payroll and HRIS records
