Job summary
We are seeking newly qualified GPs (within the last two years) who are enthusiastic, forward-thinking, and committed to delivering high-quality primary care. This role is based within our Barnsley practices as part of the Primary Care Network, supporting the healthcare needs of the local community.
Flexible working arrangements are available, with a commitment of three sessions per week. If you are interested, please get in touch we would be happy to discuss the details further.
This position will be based across our Barnsley practices.

Main duties of the job
Candidates must demonstrate a positive and professional attitude, be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and possess strong teamwork skills to contribute effectively to a collaborative healthcare environment.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for a range of clinical duties, including:
Conducting surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and responding to patient queries.
Undertaking home visits where clinically required.
Reviewing and signing acute and repeat prescriptions in a timely manner.
Assessing test results and patient correspondence, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Preparing medical reports and referral letters for both NHS and private services.
Making professional, autonomous decisions regarding patient care, whether self-referred or referred by Federation team members.
Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in line with agreed standards.
Collecting data for audit purposes to support continuous improvement.
Working towards all Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Local Enhanced Services (LES), and Directed Enhanced Services (DES) targets.
Issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, minimising handwritten prescriptions where possible.
Prescribing in line with the practice formulary or generically, where clinically appropriate.
Undertaking all standard duties and responsibilities expected of a GP within primary care.
Additional Practice Responsibilities
Ensuring compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, including prescribing protocols, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, and QOF standards.
Demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development, including maintaining an educational portfolio.
Contributing to audit and evaluation activities, ensuring clinical standards are upheld.
Supporting the development of digital patient records to enhance efficiency and accessibility.
Participating in training programmes, practice/federation meetings, and external events as required.
Meeting deadlines for audits and written submissions to ensure the federation maintains quality standards and receives designated funding (e.g. annual QOF audits, out-of-hours audits).Participate in primary care led initiatives.
