      PRIMARY PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY:
      The PFL Coordinator leads the implementation of Dominican’s Peer-Facilitated Learning Program and the coordination of our other peer-facilitated academic support initiatives/programs. The STEM Success Specialist will work within the Academic Success Center, and collaborate with the Title III-F Activity Director, the Director of Academic Success, other staff, faculty, student tutors, and other stakeholders to implement the “Improve STEM Services, Strengthen Teaching and Learning, Fill Program Gaps” project, a 5-year grant funded by the Department of Education. With funding of this position, Dominican University seeks to improve academic success and student retention and progression by expanding academic services for STEM students and the number of STEM courses with peer-facilitated learning communities. This grant-funded position goes through September 30, 2026.

      JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      1. Train in DU STEM Success Peer-led Team Learning, University Teaching Assistants, and other peer-facilitated learning models
      2. Lead the implementation (promotion, recruitment, participant selection, and coordination) of the STEM Summer Science Institute
      3. Lead implementation of PFL program
        1. Recruit, hire, and supervise PLTL tutors for River Forest and Chicago campus
        2. Coordinate with faculty participating in PLTL/UTA Programs
        3. Assign tutors to courses
        4. Assist with UTA recruitment
        5. Assign students to workshops each semester
        6. Arrange space (room assignments) for weekly workshops
        7. Collaborate with Financial Aid, STEM team, and other offices to ensure that students are receive financial aid awards and/or other compensation
        8. Produce and maintain class-section-corresponding Canvas pages
      4. Collaborate with faculty and ASC/CTLE staff on the development/design of STEM academic support initiatives on campus (remediation strategies, other PFL models, etc.) using innovative thinking as well as evidence-based best practices
      5. Recruit, train, and support students in mentorship (LSAMP STEM mentoring program) and peer-facilitated learning roles
      6. Liaise with Career Programs and Employer Relations Office and collaborate with STEM/ASC teams to provide STEM students with mentorship and support, connecting them with and preparing them for summer research / conference and graduate school opportunities
      7. Meet routinely with students and support project efforts to recruit and retain students in STEM majors, especially Hispanic and low-income students
      8. Identify students facing difficulty being successful in STEM courses and help to meet their academic support needs
      9. Supervise or co-supervise student lead(s)
      10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
      All qualifications are required unless otherwise indicated.
      • Bachelor’s Degree
      • Experience with Supplemental Instruction
      • Capacity for event planning, scheduling logistics, and collaborating with partners across a complex institution
      • Ability to develop and independently manage a variety of time-sensitive projects simultaneously and meet all required deadlines
      • Must be committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive working and learning environment
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      Knowledge, skills & abilities
      • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite: OneDrive, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Learning Management Systems (Canvas)
      • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
