- Lead and work with Pelleting and Coating team of 11-12 employees to deliver best-in-class service.
- Ensure the working environment is collaborative and team oriented.
- Participate in continuous improvement exercises and adapt to changing needs and requirements.
- Collaborate with Seed Technology Team in the implementation and advancement of the Automated Pelleting Equipment and Programs.
- Develop and oversee operational initiatives to increase production efficiency and have the best quality enhanced seed.
- Adhere to all quality control measures and watch for signs of tampering and contamination.
- Manage high quality standards and ensure all staff perform effectively to meet those standards.
- Schedule daily Production work using computer system.
- Responsible for setting up automation equipment and troubleshooting formulations as needed.
- Work closely with maintenance team to ensure equipment is functioning as expected.
- Perform all other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization’s values.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
- 1+ years’ experience working with automation equipment, including programming, 1+ years of experience working in a supervisory role; work with seed a plus
- Automation programs, mid-level math and computer skills, ability to enter and maintain records in computer system, must obtain and maintain Pesticide Operators License
- Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate with internal customers, bilingual capabilities a plus
- MS Office experience, SAP a plus, automation programming
- Leadership skills, problem solving, attention to detail, organizational skills, teamwork, adaptability, and flexibility to perform multiple tasks
- Productive, high-quality output to meet customer expectations and internal metrics
- Adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations
- Work directly with other employees inside and outside the department on shared objectives
Description
Ball Horticultural Company is seeking a customer-centric candidate to lead and supervise the Premier Lab Pelleting and Coating departments located at company headquarters in West Chicago, IL. Ball is the largest flower seed breeder/producer and distributor in the world, providing outstanding products, best-in-class customer service, and reliable supply to professional growers around the globe.

Ability to Lift/Carry up to 25 Lbs. 10% of the day.
Ability to Push/Pull up to 50 Lbs. 10% of the day.
Ability to Sit/Stand 100% of the day.
Ability to Kneel/Bend up to 20% of the day.
Ability to Reach above shoulder level up to 15% of the day.
Ability to Climb/Balance up to 10% of the day.
Ability to use Hands/Fingers 100% of the day.
Pay Range: $55,000-$70,000
