Enrolling eligible employees in the Group benefit and Pension plan and administering the college's pension, benefits, leave and vacation;
Managing the enrollment, renewal, changing, and distribution processes;
Communicating pension, benefit and leave information and reports to internal and external group of employees;
Assisting in pension calculation based on retiree pension plans;
Processing and completing all transaction activities including terminations, retirements, deaths, and transfers;
Reviewing and updating procedures and process flows for pension and benefit administration functions;
Monitoring/ ensuring compliance with collective agreements, terms & conditions of employment, College policies and procedures and legislative requirements;
Administering the leave rate set up and leave summary statements
Managing all administrative aspects of leave to include tracking hours used and working closely with the HR and payroll to ensure that pay for associates is accurate and correct;
Producing and managing report metrics and analytics for all leave cases and employees’ related compensation, benefit premium administration and pension buy back details;
Working closely with employees to ensure that all relevant completed documentation is submitted for timely review;
Maintaining regular contact with all employees on leave and coordinating all aspects of return to work from leave;
Processing and completing Payout reviews and adjustments in the case of group changes or termination;
Processing and completing all transaction activities including terminations, retirements, deaths, transfers, service purchases (buybacks) and pension estimates;
Working closely with payroll on retroactive payments and payroll discrepancies;
Assisting annual pension valuations and develop compensation statements.
Investigating and resolving problems and discrepancies related to pension, benefit and leave and escalating when required;
Monitoring and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of data and documents related to pension, benefit and leave for different databases (e.g. Workday, CAAT, Sun Life, etc.).
Minimum four (4) year degree, preferably in Human Resources or equivalent as determined by the manager;
Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is an asset;
Minimum five (5) years relevant experience;
Previous relevant experience interpreting policies, directives, collective agreements and Provincial legislation
Previous experience working in a Human Resources Department within a unionized environment.

Reporting to the Manager, Total Compensation, the incumbent is jointly responsible for controlling and administering Benefits and Pension plans for employees and retirees as well as orientation and onboarding for new employees. Additionally, the incumbent controls and administers all leaves as outlined in the respective collective agreements, Administrative Terms and Conditions of Employment and the Employment Standards Act, ensuring accurate information and data integrity.
The incumbent is responsible for special projects, audits within the scope of the position and assisting in resolving problems with respect to the College’s insurance carrier and pension plan provider. The individual is responsible for monitoring several different areas and producing detailed reports internally and for the client group. The incumbent must display a high degree of independence and be able to support and implement best practices.
