- Partner closely with Senior Leadership, HR Business Partners, HR stakeholders in other functional areas, business & company leaders, and fellow team members to identify key workforce issues impacting the business.
- Use consulting skills to determine and articulate internal customer business questions, develop the best approach for data analysis and turn data into actionable insights & recommendations.
- Merge structured, semi-structured and unstructured data from several systems to highlight company trends related to recruiting, developing, engaging, and retaining talent.
- Leverage statistical approaches to develop hypotheses, investigate measures, correlations, causality connections, analyze data creatively and connect the results to inform and influence strategy and decision making for critical business issues.
- Perform complex and sophisticated data analysis such as regression analysis, factor analysis, t-tests, decision trees, ANOVA and forecasting methods to generate insight to support the workforce analytics needs of the business, to drive more informed business decisions.
- Develop workforce planning frameworks, models, and insights to support the business in making data-driven decisions on complex business problems.
- Conduct research to identify & understand trends and opportunities in various areas like organizational behavior, talent processes, workforce dynamics; anticipate the future and develop talent management strategies.
- Effectively communicate statistical analyses, results, and implications to technical and non-technical audiences. Deliver high quality analysis, reports, presentations using effective visualizations that can be scaled for consumption by a larger audience.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices regarding human capital/workforce analytics.
- Master’s degree in in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Psychology. Sociology, Finance, Engineering, Management Science or Econometrics.
- 3+ years’ experience in a quantitative, psychometric, people analytics role.
- Experience with Data Analytics using R/Python, statistical packages and libraries, SQL, visualization tools like Tableau, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, Excel.
- Ability to create ad-hoc queries, join data from multiple sources to perform complex analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, form hypotheses, analyze to predict outcomes, determine solutions and recommendations.
- Strong consultative & communication skills and the ability to build relationships with HR and cross-functional partners.
- Works effectively in an unstructured environment, taking initiatives and ownership, forming new perspectives and creative approaches, solid problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Basic financial knowledge (ROI, basic understanding of financial statements), business acumen and understanding of strategy and its formulation.
- Systems thinking & ability to perform data mining is a plus.
- Experience in HR workforce analytics and HR data and metrics
- Strong project management skills
Applied Materials is seeking a people analytics consultant with strong business acumen, talent, and analytical skills to join the dynamic & high-performing Workforce Strategy & Intelligence (WSI) team to act as an expert data-centered consultant focused on workforce strategy and talent management, and to enable a word class HR function through technology, strategy, and analytics.
The People Analytics Consultant role will work with HR & business stakeholders and the leadership to leverage talent data to inform and enhance decision-making. This position will utilize data analysis methodologies, tools, and approaches to provide insights. This individual will be responsible for translating business strategy and objectives into analytics priorities, communicating the analytics findings to shape people strategy, business decisions, and solve high-value problems.
The individual must be highly data driven, technically proficient, creative, detail-oriented, proactive, intellectually curious, strong consultant and an effective communicator. This role requires a strong passion for strategy, talent management and data analytics. Background or experience in I/O psychology will be a strong plus in this job.

$112,000.00 - $154,000.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
