      Investment Performance Analyst

An exciting opportunity to join our Investment Analytics team as an Investment Performance Analyst based in our London office on a permanent basis. (Hybrid working)

      Who we are

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.

      The role

The performance function sits within the Investment Risk Management Team (IRM), which is part of Railpen’s wider Investment & Fiduciary business. The IRM team is responsible for investment risk management, investment and performance analytics, and asset valuation, supporting the Fiduciary business in its capacity as an informed and influential client on behalf of the Trustee. We provide independent performance and risk management, reporting, advice and analytics to all areas of Railpen, supporting our core objective of achieving the secure and sustainable payment of members’ pensions.

      The person

We would like to hear from individuals that have experience of designing investment analytics reports, have extensive knowledge of investment input data sets, have worked in a multi-asset environment, and have detailed knowledge of financial markets and instruments in both public and private assets. Prior experience of implementing a performance system or dataset, and a working knowledge of SQL, python, and Power-bi is preferred, but not essential.

The successful candidate will be able to work with data flexibly and will be able to build composites, have an excellent working knowledge of attribution models, and understand how to analyse the drivers of risk and performance.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative and enthusiastic in their approach, can take ownership of tasks and execute them independently and can bring a diversity of ideas and opinions. Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our interactions with others. They’re what we stand for.
