      Job Title: Performance Test Driver

      Location: Luxembourg

      Primary Purpose of the Position:

      • Execute and analyze performance tests according to procedures and work instructions or as per OE account request / requirements on vehicle and virtual environment (when applicable – virtual test ability)
      • Ensure final coordination for test preparation: check the car before testing (ideally 1 day in advance). In virtual, contact PS (Performance Science) team to validate testing upfront.
      • Comply with all safety requirements and instructions and proactively raise all potential safety issues.
      • Driver has the responsibility for each test to make sure that the track he is using is adequate and valid for the test.
      • Respect Quality systems and procedures. Ensure calibration of personal measurement equipment.
      • Contribute to continuous improvement activities, process and procedure development and PPI internal projects.
      • Support operations leaders in driving strong safety culture, reaching high quality standards, and building a strong team spirit.
      • Consistently document technical information for adequate sharing of knowledge.

      Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

      Test execution:

      • Perform and evaluate test as required per test schedule (objective, subjective, treadwear support…) in the respective area (passenger, light truck, commercial, motorbike, …).
      • Prepare the scheduled test: check and set up test conditions according to work instructions, follow-up tires mounting, prepare vehicle and instrumentation, balancing reports, vehicle maintenance/repair status.
      • Execute test on time as scheduled by lead engineer/test scheduler. Perform test on timely basis as per instruction / scheduling from lead engineer/test scheduler. Occasional Tire changing support, where required to maintain operations.
      • Issue Test report (max 1 day) after test execution.
      • Respect safety procedures and highlight opportunities for improvement.

      Test environment:

      • Maintain / update info in performance testing data bases.
      • Communicate findings/issues on tire behavior, test processes and procedures to supervisor / requester.
      • Maintain and further develop procedures, work instructions, OBT and JRA for performance test items assigned to.
      • Support Safety and Quality Continuous Improvements projects and initiatives, correlation tests and measurement variability studies, track monitoring.

      Additional activities (special assignments, PPI projects OE, operations), e.g.:

      • Perform OE testing (including UUHP when applicable), participate in OE teams meetings and discussions and coordinate test activities for OE teams assigned to.
      • Bring advanced technical knowledge and expertise in daily job (cross functional meetings and/or projects, PPI engineering projects…).

      Operational assignment / project support:

      • Prepare small remote testing session in collaboration with other PPI groups (TPG, logistics, instrumentation…), locally coordinate a remote testing session, support a new test capability or capacity building, support an event preparation and/or coordination.

      Operational (technical) projects - lead:

      • Coordinate global testing activities (winter or OEM testing activities), develop a new test capability.

      To join our team, you will need:

      Education:

      • Engineering degree.

      Experience:

      • Proven experience of performance driving and capabilities.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Adequate driving license, above average driving abilities, Experience in Supercar driving (if applicable).
      • Technical background (BSc or 5 years of experience in Road Tire Testing, as minimum), knowledge of vehicle dynamics and tire construction.
      • Fluent in English.
      • Administrative know-how, report writing, basic computer knowledge.
      • Good communication, listening, and analyzing skills. Able to stop – think – act.
      • Strong team player, high flexibility, able to adapt to any testing environment (multiple testing locations) and weather conditions (extreme cold or hot temperatures).
      • Ethical values: Honest and full transparency, provide info on valid driver’s license or loss.
