      Req#: 4987255

      Perform a variety of lead functions in the Building Safety permitting section. Provide lead support to Building Safety staff, inspectors, contractors and developers. Provide information regarding City of Albuquerque code reviews and inspection requirements. Coordinate scheduling and provide communication necessary for the proper enforcement of all department codes, policies, and regulations. Serve as the main point of contact for all submittals and communications related to permit applications, resubmittals and permit closeouts; accept permit applications, determines type of application, accepts revisions, routes review material, and completes necessary documentation. Coordinate permit intake process with building and clerical support staff. Coordinate with plan review staff to ensure all steps are met for the issuance of construction permits and Certificates of Occupancy; monitor the progress of permit applications including identifying and researching problems that need correcting, and perform follow-up as needed.

      High school diploma or GED; and

      Five (5) years of administrative support or field experience related to any combination of the following areas:

      • building safety practices and procedures
      • general construction

      ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

      Possession of or ability to obtain an International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Permit Technician within six (6) months from date of hire.

      Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

      Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

      • Operational characteristics of applicable computer software programs
      • Principles and practices of permitting, inspection and record keeping
      • Pertinent laws, codes, ordinances and regulations and processes as it relates to construction projects and the general public
      • Interpret codes, regulations and laws as they pertain to construction
      • Read and interpret construction documents, mapping and survey data, site plans, zoning codes, legal descriptions and related information
      • Interpret and apply department policies and procedures
      • Perform data entry into a database
      • Perform responsible and complex administrative and clerical work
      • Operate and use modern office equipment including a computer and scanner
      • Communicate clearly and concisely
      • Work independently in the absence of supervision
      • Provide clear and concise information to the general public
      • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
      • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
