- Certified Diet Technician or equivalent experience working as a Diet Technician or PNA in a hospital setting.
- Possesses knowledge of therapeutic diets and food service safety & sanitation standards.
- Possesses ability to perform duties in a timely manner, and follow hospital and department policies & procedures.
- Has full command ( verbal and written) of the English language.
- Possesses the physical ability and perceptive acuity eg. hearing, visual, to satisfactorily perform all duties.
- Able to lift and carry objects; walk and stand on feet for extended periods of time; Able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.

The Personal Nutrition Assistant is responsible for menu processing, patient screening and tally preparation. He/she heads and modifies menus, and checks patient trays for accuracy and compliance with diet order; maintains updated cardex; visits patients for nutritional screening, patient requests and to aid in menu completion. The Personal Nutrition Assistant is responsible for maintaining open communication with Dietitian and food production staff regarding patient menus and nutritional concerns. This position has the responsibility for interacting with the following age groups: pediatric, adolescent through geriatric.
