- Assist in maintaining compliance to the Occupation Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations for industry in Ontario
- Provide subject matter expertise in various technical fields of work such as: Fire Code, Confined Space Entry, Elevated Work, Electrical Safety, Ventilation, Pressure Vessels and Piping, Ontario Regulation for Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews
- Engineering functions within the EHS department including: machine guarding, safety circuit requirements, fire prevention, process hazard management (risk management for flammable liquid and combustible dust processes), facilitate process hazard analysis (PHA), risk assessments, incident investigations, equipment Lock-Out Tag-Out, and support for capital projects relating to EHS.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) or education in Occupational Health and Safety
- Degree in an Engineering discipline (P. Eng. License designation preferred)
- Strong leadership abilities
- Experience in the field of Environmental Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment
- Equivalent experience as a safety professional in a manufacturing setting would be an asset
- Safety professional designation such as CRSP or CSP
- Strong change management understanding and leadership skills with the ability to influence others
- Able to be a team player willing to develop yourself and others
- Proven results in leading technical programs and challenges
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong knowledge of current safety regulations
- Computer proficiency
- Strong oral and written communication skills

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Safety Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. The successful candidate will make an impact by using their technical knowledge and skills to help the two plants reduce/prevent hazards, risk and injuries in the workplace. The successful candidate will be frequently working closely with the technical support groups assigned to the various product manufacturing lines to help manage changes, reduce risk and maintain compliance. The safety engineer will also work amongst a group of Environmental Health & Safety professionals on site and collaboratively with others across the 3M Canada manufacturing sites.Here, you will make an impact by:
