      Minimum Requirements

      Essential:

      • Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant Certificate; or
      • Pharmacy Technician

      Intermediate computer lieteracy level in MS Word, Excel, powerPoint and Outlook

      • Effective working knowledge of a warehouse management system or similar dispensing software;
      • Proficient in Excel for data management and reporting

      Job Related Requirements

      • Compliance:
      o Demonstrate Quality Lead support ensuring full site compliance, including but not limited to:
      ▪ DSV Policies (domestic and global), and Domestic authoritative statutory measures (eg. SAHPRA, DoL, etc.);
      • Training:
      o Demonstrate Quality Lead support ensuring ongoing Pharma Quality Management System (PharmaQMS) compliance;
      o Facilitate the necessary training of employees (operations, sales, HR and IT) inclusive of on-site contractors
      • Consumer / Retail product management:
      o Health product identification and compliant storage, with segregation by resultant UN Code and/or MSDS category. This to be done collaboratively with DSV Quality / Compliance Department;
      • Problem Solving:
      o Effective Root Cause Analysis, Trend Analysis, Problem Solving and implementation of Corrective and Preventative Measures;
      • Auditing:
      o Ensure audit readiness aligned to DSV adopted Integrated Management system, adopted PharmaQMS as well as prescribed regulatory impositions. This inclusive of preparation, execution and reporting of mentioned audit scope;
      • Stress and Conflict:
      o Effective techniques and/or skills to manage conflict, cope with stress and work under pressure to meet deadlines;
      • Communication:
      o Communicate effectively (written and verbal) to manage and meet both internal and external customer expectations;
      • Contractor Management:
      o Support Quality Lead with business partner reviews per annual developed plan. This focused on licenses, certifications, processes, staff, training and equipment; and related.

      Added Advantages for this role

      • Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach and continuously develop & improve QHSE, and other related obligations; • An understanding of pharmaceutical production, whether large- or small-scale; • An understanding of quality assurance and audit processes in relation to the pharmaceutical industry and associated quality management systems • Knowledge of Medical Devices, advantageous; and • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), mandatory.

      Main purpose of the role

      The successful incumbent will be responsible for quality assurance (QA). This to ensure effective quality control through implementation, support, monitoring and control of all Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental (QSHE) requirements & processes aligned to the approved management systems. Where relevant, the successful incumbent will be obligated to ensure adherence to statutory requirements as outlined in the Pharmacy Act 53/1974, Medicines and Related Substances Control Act 101/1965 and all associated regulations. This done under continued supervision and guidance of the pharmacists.
      Further to the said, with the DSV business’ participation in the Global HealthcareQMS certification – a voluntary standard maintained by DSV’s Global Healthcare Compliance Department – the incumbent is required to portray a Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Quality Specialist role, which endeavors to uphold the stated standard. This particular portfolio is perceived as a part-time role mainly determined by the facility’s assigned tier and, therefore, its associated capabilities.
      Regardless of full or part-time consideration, commitment to quality in respect of pharmaceutical product integrity remains pivotal with the incumbent acting in good faith and ensuring appeasement of regulatory authorities, whether domestic or foreign, clients, customers, and similar.

      Duties and responsibilities

      • Support Quality Lead through the communication of current issues ensuring ongoing HealthcareQMS compliance within the pharmaceutical instance;
      • Ensure all shipments within DSV’s control are compliant with the current Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (QSHE), Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Policy, as well as standard operating procedures to mitigate any potential risks associated with the supply chain. These to be guided by the Good Pharmacy Practice Rules;
      • Ensure compliance to QSHE, Pharmaceutical and Healthcare policy, standard operating procedure as well as statutory guidance documents. The latter includes, but is not limited to, Pharmacy Council and legislativeknowledge incidental thereto;
      • Deliver on minimum standards as prescribed by pharmaceutical / FMCG / retail / similar principal KPIs relational to DSV’s adopted management systems;
      • Active participation in audits whether internal, client, statutory or other. This being done under guidance of the Responsible Pharmacist and in support of same;
      • Active participation in non-conformance closure through appropriate implementation of remedial action to ensure robustness of adopted QMS. This being done under guidance of the Responsible Pharmacist and in support of same;
      • Active participation in continual improvement;
      • Active participation in recalls whether actual or mock recalls whilst providing support in respect of product traceability, report writing, and other activities associated thereto. This being done under guidance of the Responsible Pharmacist and in support of same;
      • Full participation in waste management while providing support to the pharmaceutical quality lead, operational management and / or other;
      • Proactive engagement within operational undertakings to ensure prompt escalation to Quality Lead and relevant manager in the event of system failure and / or operational weaknesses or necessary enhancements;
      • Ensure prompt issue resolution and optimal consulting and support in respect of storage, handling and transportation such to ensure deliverance of sales orders, operational demands and other. This being done under guidance and through collaborative means with the Responsible Pharmacist;
      • Support the Responsible Pharmacist through the communication of current issues and continuous improvement opportunities identified at Branch level. Tasks include:
      o Report writing and data collation relevant to pharmaceutical instance as per DSV’s approved PharmaQMS. This in collaborative means with the appointed Responsible Pharmacist;
      o Daily / Weekly / Monthly productivity and efficiency reports;
      o Daily / Weekly / Monthly inspections aimed at QSHE;
      o Support the operations team with industry related questions / requirements (point of escalation); and
      o Support sales initiatives / sales staff / in gaining or retaining pharmaceutical & healthcare Clients.
      • Facility and Equipment: Support Quality Assurance / Compliance Specialists to ensure facility is maintained in a compliant manner;
      • Contractor Management: Ensure all contactors are on DSV preferred provider list, meet all QSHE requirements (compliant licenses, certifications, processes, staff, training and equipment), and are audited as per DSV’s approved Business Partner Management procedures. This being done on an annual basis as approved by the Quality Lead;
