      The role you’ll contribute:

      The RX Plus Pharmacist, as the medication expert, provides the highest quality pharmaceutical care to the patients of AdventHealth mail order pharmacy. The pharmacist reviews the prescription for accuracy and takes appropriate steps for clarification or correction if necessary. Monitors daily workflow to meet production goals and complete mail order prescriptions. Communicates with the patient/physician as needed regarding drug interactions, medication identification, sensitivities, allergies, and all issues regarding safety and wellbeing of the patient. Oral and written communications require sensitivity, good judgment, and a caring attitude be displayed in every situation.

      • Available during regular business hours to meet the needs of our customers. Arrives at workstation at scheduled time.
      • Receives verbal prescriptions via Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) or telephone from physician’s office and immediately reduces to writing according to Florida statutes.
      • Contacts prescriber for any clarifications or necessary recommendations based on professional judgement prior to forwarding to appropriate staff member.
      • Transfers prescriptions either incoming or outgoing to appropriate retail pharmacies following state and federal laws.
      • Evaluates prescriptions in the pharmacy computer system (Carepoint®) during the Pharmacist View 1 (PV1) for accuracy, drug utilization review (DUR), and patient history.
      • Communicates concerns/trends to appropriate personnel or prescriber.
      • Utilizes the Pharmacy View 2 (PV2) scan function to check both new and refill prescription order for correct medication, labeling, and any errors missed on PV1.
      • Provides support and education to technician staff to decrease overall error rate in the order entry and fulfillment processes and communicates concerns to the appropriate personnel.
      • Partners with other departments for timely resolution of request/inquiries to include pharmacy, shipping, customer service and production. Follows up on requests to ensure they were handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
      • Fills and packs all Schedule 2 Controlled (CII) Substances while maintain an accurate inventory. Processes daily CII order ensuring that only contracted items are purchased. Communicates with Purchasing Technician as necessary to assure judicious inventory controls.
      • Accepts incoming telephone requests from plan members for medication consultation, patient education, mail order process, and interchange processes.
      • Assists in training and orientation of new employees, participates in quality improvement programs and educational activities.
      • Accepts other duties and projects as assigned by director.

      The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

      • A graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree.
      • One year professional experience in pharmacy setting

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

      • A graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
      • 2-5 years of retail or mail order pharmacy experience
      • Bi-lingual preferred

      LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

      • Licensed in the State of Florida to practice Pharmacy
      • Must complete state required bi-annual continuing education requirements for licensure
