      MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

      To provide a patient-orientated pharmaceutical service that promotes appropriate use of medicines in the units

      KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

      Provide Ward Pharmacy Services to allocated units in the hospital

      Assist with promoting and implementation of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme

      Provide information on pharmaceutical utilisation, -trends, -strategy and medication to the hospital

      Mitigate pharmaceutical risks in the units

      Ensure accurate dispensing where applicable

      REQUIRED EDUCATION

      ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: B Pharm

      DESIRED EDUCATION: Antimicrobial Stewardship course, Pharmaceutical Care course, Infection Prevention and Control related course,

      REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

      ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 - 2 Year private hospital pharmacy experience

      DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Working in a Ward Pharmacist capacity, Managing an Antimicrobial Stewardship programme

      REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

      • Pharmacy and related healthcare industry
      • Antimicrobial stewardship processes and procedures
      • Ethical pharmaceuticals
      • Pharmacy relevant statutory requirements and regulations
      • Relevant pharmacy systems (e.g. UNISOLVE; AS400)
      • Relevant Pharmacy legislation (e.g. Pharmacy Act; Good pharmacy practice; Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965)
      • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
      • Surgical pharmaceuticals
      • Develop patient treatment plans
      • Knowledge and experience working with relevant pharmacy systems (e.g. UNISOLV; AS400)
