      Overview

      Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an Admixture Tech to support our Suffolk location.

      Responsibilities

      • Prepares medication orders by admixing medications under the supervision of a physician, calculating correct dosage volumes
      • Checks all orders for completeness of information, verifies patient information and proper physician authorization
      • Checks all orders for insurance approval before admixing
      • Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. Cleans hood daily or as stated in policy and procedures
      • Logs and dates all drugs being used. Checks drugs for monthly outdate and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
      • Maintains proper control documentation of medications. Completes inventory control of medications
      • Performs efficient data entry into systems used by admixture.
      • Orders medication and supplies as directed

      Qualifications

      • High school diploma or equivalent required
      • Three to five years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills preferred
      • IV certification strongly preferred
      • Experience with Lynx, Epic, Pyxis, Omnicell is preferred
      • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board preferred
      • Willing to travel between offices as needed
