Job summary
We are looking for someone with an interest in Pharmacy who has an eye for detail, is hardworking, ambitious, is able to problem solve and has excellent communication skills.
You will ideally have an NVQ2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services or be willing to work towards this, with in-house training provided.
We are a small team who work over 3 dispensaries within the Hospital. You will be given full training in each of the dispensaries and complete work-based competencies under the guidance of a qualified member of staff.
There are numerous training and development opportunities within the department for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
To oversee the safe and efficient dispensing of medicines for hospital outpatient and inpatients.
To undertake the sale of over-the-counter medicines.
To undertake a range of reception duties for the pharmacy dispensaries.
Delivery of medications to clinical areas.
Filing and other general administrative duties.

Job responsibilities
1. To carry out general stock management duties in all areas of the pharmacy including receipt of goods, transfers, stock counts, stock rotation and investigation of stock discrepancies when necessary.
2. To undertake the dispensing of medicines under the direction of Pharmacy Technicians, including interpretation of prescriptions, labelling and assembly of medicines
3. To undertake the delivery of dispensed items to wards and other clinical areas in accordance with departmental rotas and in response to patient need.
4. To undertake pharmacy reception duties including receipt of prescriptions, handling of prescription charges etc.
5. To undertake the relevant rotational in house training programme (including relevant aspect of the Level 2 NVQ in Pharmacy, and the Counter Assistants course) under the guidance of the Team Leader and the supervision of the technical staff in Patient Services.
6. To undertake any other duties which may be requested by the Head of Medicines Management or Team Leader
