      Due to the recent recategorization to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Brixton in London.

      Since April 2025, HMP Brixton is now a Category B male prison housing men on remand. Our patients needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody. You will be a key member of our team as the sole Pharmacy Assistant, working alongside a team of 10 Pharmacy Technicians and 2 Pharmacists.

      Hours

      37.5 hours per week (full time)

      0830 - 1700 Monday to Friday only. Bank hours are also available.

      Salary

      Up to £28,800 depending on experience.

      Main duties of the job

      As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will

      • Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
      • Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
      • Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
      • Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
      • Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of return
      • Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

      Qualifications required
      • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
      • Medicines handing experience desirable not essential
      • Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
      • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Good IT skills and IT literacy
      • Ability to work within a busy environment
      • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
