      SUMMARY: Revised Title We are seeking a Pharmacy Buyer to join our team. This full time role will work days, on-site. Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the purchase of a variety of drugs and supplies. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Processes orders of drugs and supplies for all assigned departments according to established department procedures and wholesaler contracts, in a timely, professional manner. Also, creates purchase orders and blanket orders for provisions of drugs and supplie - Ensures proper procurement and documentation of drugs based on contracts and medication accumulations in compliance with the Federal 340B Drug Discount Program. - Complies with the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) invoice and record keeping requirements for all medications that are ordered and received - Identifies issues in procuring medications as it relates to but is not limited to distribution center stocking issues and drug shortages, and participates in drug shortage meetings to assist Pharmacy Operations Manager and Clinical Pharmacists in finding alternate solutions for procurement - Locates sources of medications in situations of urgent need from outside hospitals or wholesalers and maintains appropriate records and creates a process for repayment. - Assumes responsibility for ensuring accuracy of pricing within our wholesale account for all contracts - Trains staff with ordering, filling out lend/borrow forms and maintaining inventory on the shelves as well as within the robotic dispensing and inventory systems. - Maintains oversight and troubleshoots issues with robotic dispensing and inventory systems - Handles receiving issues concerning damaged inventory, goods, over shipments, and short shipments of all medications including the hazardous to handle medications and scheduled narcotic medications - Processes and documents return of medications to wholesaler or manufacturer in instances of expiration, recall, or credits to appropriate accounts based on account purchases in compliance with DSCSA and the 340B Federal Drug discount program. Also coordinates returns of medications to our contract reverse distributor - Works with outside vendors such as Med Carousel, Macro Helix, ATP, EPIC, Willow, and McKesson to set and maintain par and critical levels based on the clinics’ and inpatient hospital’s usage history and demand in coordination with Pharmacy Management - Works with internal department personnel including P&T Committee administrators, infusion center pharmacists, and vaccine coordinators to ensure medication availability, reduce financial loss due to expiring or unused drugs, and monitor pricing of drugs and supplies - Monitors Willow queues, bar-code scanning, appropriate claims documentation, and compliance with Federal, State and hospital billing practices to reduce financial loss and improve patient care
