      In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

      Reporting to the Supervisor-Inventory & Purchasing or designate, the Pharmacy Purchasing Clerk utilizes a variety of computerized and internet applications, and provides data entry, reception and general clerical assistance, including maintenance of electronic data systems and any records associated with pharmacy purchasing.

      Travel may be a requirement of this position. If applicable, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education, Training And Experience

      Grade 12 and two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

      Skills And Abilities

      • Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm.
      • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
      • Ability to organize work.
      • Ability to operate related equipment.
      • Ability to deal effectively with others.
      • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
