      Position Summary:

      Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, compounding and labeling of medications for distribution.

      1. Fill drug and floor stock requisitions. Package medications with barcodes. Label medications with required caution stickers and tamperproof measures.
      2. Prepare IV medications following all required procedures and documentation to comply with USP Chapter 797 IV room standards.
      3. Follow and comply with USP Chapter 795 and 800 standards.
      4. Remove out of date medications from stock monthly.
      5. Perform monthly unit inspections.
      6. Perform duties as required for automated dispensing cabinet operations.
      7. Restock Anesthesia Control Substance boxes, code cart trays, emergency boxes and anesthesia trays.
      8. Receive medications delivered from wholesaler and medications received direct from pharmaceutical companies. Report any discrepancies.
      9. Receive and dispense medications accurately utilizing the MedCarousel to maintain correct count and expiration dates.
      10. Ensure all recalls are pulled from Pharmacy stock and processed for credit.
      11. Deliver medications to nursing units hourly.
      12. Remove out of date medications, empty return bin, and refill dispensing machines on each nursing unit.
      13. Answers telephone within the department.
      14. Prepares Meditech cart fill list.
      15. Process inpatient return medications, giving credit when necessary and returning to stock or placing in destruction bin as required.
      16. Process pharmacy charges.
      17. Ability to work rotating days, evenings, nights and weekends.

      Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required.

      Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht) certification is required or completion of a degree program with PTCB certification in 2 years.
