- Uses defined procedures to successfully complete simulation exercise and rotation activities
- Ability to evaluate and come up with solution when presented with a problem during simulation assignment and experiential rotation activities
- Successfully completes didactic, simulation and experiential components of the JHHS pharmacy technician training program within predefined duration.
- Under director supervision of preceptor, performs a variety of duties assisting in the preparation and packaging of medications, distribution and delivery of medications, maintaining proper inventory levels and keeping appropriate records and documentation.
- Communicates effectively to pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, nurses and/or other healthcare providers
- A minimum of a High School diploma, GED, Certificate of Completion or equivalent achievement is required.
- No experience is required
- Efficient computer skills for online didactic learning
- Analytical ability to maintain records, measure drugs, and recognize common computer errors
- Interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to obtain, verify, and exchange information.
- Ability to use Pharmacy Technician University (PTU) online platform for didactic learning and competency assessments
- Aability to use computer for data access, and understanding of technology used to automate drug ordering, storage, preparation and dispensing procedures.
- Demonstrates appropriate reading skill by achieve a score of 70% or higher on pre-enrollment reading comprehension competency
- Demonstrates basic mathematical calculations skills by achieve a score of 70% or higher on pre-enrollment math competency
- Initiates actions that support teamwork, and the development of a culture of safety
- Uses defined procedures to successfully complete simulation exercise and rotation activities
Pharmacy Tech Trainee Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Educational Coordinator, instructors, preceptors, and the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, pharmacy technician trainee successfully completes didactic, simulation and experiential components of the Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) pharmacy technician training program within predefined duration. Pharmacy technician trainee must meet a minimum of 400 credit hours completion requirements of the program per ASHP/ACPE standards.Under the direct supervision of preceptor of record or designee in experiential training, pharmacy technician trainee will perform a variety of duties including assisting in the preparation and packaging of medications, distribution and delivery of medications, maintaining proper inventory levels, and keeping appropriate records and documentation.
