Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Pharmacy Technician looking to develop their skills in Primary Care.
Working under the employment of Red Kite Health solutions CIC, you will be an integral part of a GP, cluster-based team operating across South Powys. You will be responsible for supporting the organisation with our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of the population in South Powys by maximising safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing, that enhances the quality of patient care.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direction of Red Kite CIC, the GP practices and supported by a base Pharmacist, the successful applicant will help patients/clinicians and other agencies to get the best from their medicines by undertaking medicines reconciliation in line with approved protocols, promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk, and aiming to reduce medicines waste as a part of a focused, cluster-based team.
You will be required to undertake work across the cluster-practices, which primarily will be carried out remotely but may, on occasion, require some travel within the cluster area for training and/or business needs.

Red Kite Health Solutions CIC is a non-profit organisation, setup from a collaboration of the four GP practices in South Powys. With four GP directors and a Business Development Manager, we deliver a range of commissioned services, including a cluster-based Pharmacy team, which has been operating across South Powys since 2016. The team currently consists of Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician professionals, who are at the forefront of innovative practice.

Key Responsibilities:
Undertake medicines reconciliation in line with practice protocols and standard operating procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of repeat prescriptions
- To timely action medication changes in accordance with Practice Protocols and to update Patients medical records / prescribing accordingly.
- Provide advice and information to GPs, staff, outside agencies and patients to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and the appropriate use of medicines to get the best outcomes for patients, either face-to-face or over the telephone
- To support and coach administrative staff involved in the preparation of repeat prescriptions to ensure that Practice Polices and Protocols are adhered to.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of a Medicines Management Policy to support the achievement of the Practices prescribing Quality and Financial Targets across the cluster
- To contribute to the review and development of Repeat Prescribing Protocols / Standard Operating Procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Repeat Prescribing systems.
