      Pharmacy Technician

      Dallas - Hospital

      Additional Posting Details:

      Monday - Friday

      6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

      8-hour shifts, rotating weekly schedule.

      Job Description:

      Duties/Responsibilities

      • Assist in prescription order entry, medication assembly, and acquisition of patient information and demonstrate knowledge and competency of inventory processes, mathematical calculations and universal precautions

      • Assist with all aspects of customer service including promptly answering phones and greeting and assisting walk-in customers, escorting admission patients and processing mail out prescriptions

      • Knowledgeable of how to order medications for the department, from the wholesaler or secondary sources, and complete the receipt and storage of products, mapping of barcodes, and processing of invoices as required; includes accurate maintenance of pharmacy system inventory.

      • Refill medication trays and kits and unit-dose pre-prepacking of bulk medications in an accurate and timely manner

      • Prepare outpatient prescription for dispensing by the pharmacist and fill stock replacements

      • Help maintain an orderly, clean environment including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies

      Required:

      • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)

      • Registration: Active Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) registration as a Pharmacy Technician.

      • PTCB Certification - successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board-approved pharmacy technician certification exam (PTCE).

      • IV Certification: Completion of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited sterile compounding (IV) certification program and completion of ongoing ACPE-accredited continuing education specific to sterile compounding as required by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

      • Continuing Education: Must comply with all current Texas State Board of Pharmacy continuing education requirements, as well as any additional requirements pertinent to certifications held by the applicant.

      Preferred:

      • Hospital Experience: Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations and protocols.

      • Pediatrics: Experience working with pediatric patients and understanding their unique medication needs.

      • Experience with Epic and Omnicell systems

      • Sterile Compounding (IV Room): Skills in sterile compounding, including preparing IV medications in a cleanroom environment.

      • Knowledge of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) (non-sterile), (sterile), and USP (hazardous drug) compounding standards.

      • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

      • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

      • Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
