      Responsibilities

      Tasks

      • Repair, build and modify prosthetic or orthotic appliances or footwear
      • Supervise and direct activities of other medical technologists or technicians
      • Assemble or build prosthetic and orthotic appliances according to drawings, measurements and plaster casts
      • Plan menus and diet for individuals or groups under direction of dietition or nutritionist
      • Assist in supervising personnel who prepare and serve food
      • Bill third party insurers
      • Compound oral solutions, ointments and creams
      • Help patients complete menus
      • Maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products
      • Assist dietitians with research in food, nutrition and food service systems
      • Clean and restore ocular prostheses
      • Interpret physician's specification
      • Advise patients on loss of depth perception
