      What you will be doing

      As of August 24, 2021, AmerisourceBergen requires all U.S. team members to be fully vaccinated and show proof of completed vaccine status at time of hire.       Location: Reading Hospital

      Shift: Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, flexible between 8:00AM-5:00PM

      This is an on-site position servicing our client Reading Hospital, located in West Reading, Pennsylvania.

      AmerisourceBergen has managed and staffed the Reading Hospital Ambulatory Pharmacy inside of the 700 bed Reading Hospital since 2017. In 2023 a second community pharmacy will be opened to serve the Doctors Office Building located on campus.

      We foster a culture where career development and training play a key role as our staff gain experience in many aspects of ambulatory and specialty pharmacy. We currently employ pharmacists in both clinical and ambulatory settings with a support staff of technicians in various roles. We are excited to welcome new team members to continue to grow our team and kickstart new careers.

      We started with 2 pharmacists and 4 technicians and have since expanded into a much larger operation with services such as:

      • meds-to-beds

      • employee prescriptions

      • pharmacist navigators embedded in clinics

      • Specialty Pharmacy

      This position will service patients seen in outpatient clinics. Technician will manage their own patient list, assist with adherence calls, and prescription fulfillment. Technician will work in collaboration with clinical pharmacist. Great communication skills and thorough understanding of retail pharmacy is optimal to succeed in this role.

      PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Responsible for logistics, organization and collaboration necessary to obtain prescriptions including prescriptions for specialty medications and routing those prescriptions to appropriate pharmacy locations.

      Responsible for interacting with patients and providers to obtain insurance and patient information that will expedite dispensing of prescriptions.

      Responsible for facilitating referrals to applicable patient assistance programs if needed.

      Responsible for coordinating, tracking, managing and facilitating prescription delivery.

      Navigates the health care system and its component parts to achieve prescription fulfillment and improved patient outcomes.

      Responsible for documentation and communication between patient, multidisciplinary providers and pharmacy.

      Manages multiple patients with diverse needs autonomously, with a focus on each patient’s distinct needs.

      Communicates patient and provider feedback to enhance process improvement.

      Assists in developing follow up plans to enhance patient adherence and therapy.

      Performs related duties as assigned.

      What your background should look like

      EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

      Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible pharmacy experience; bachelor's degree program preferred. Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification or comparable state certification is preferred.

      MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

      Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

      Ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints

      Strong interpersonal skills

      Ability to resolve patient issues quickly and creatively in order to improve customer satisfaction

      Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, services and drug interactions

      Strong organizational skills; attention to detail

      Good analytical skills
