      Job summary

      You will be required to support safe, effective and efficient use of medicines across North East Ambulance Service.

      You will provide technical support to specialist areas of ambulance practice under the direction of the Medicine Management Officer and Medicines Manager and be a qualified accredited accuracy checker.

      Support the Medicines Manager with the technical and operational aspects of medicines management and medicines governance across the trust which includes supply, safe storage and disposal of medicines including Controlled Drugs. Provide a medicines distribution service to ambulance stations throughout the trust, participating in the re-stocking of medicines against set parameters and the delivery and collection of medications from stations across the NEAS trust sites. Maintain computerised databases to assist with stock management, expiry date checking, stock rotation and PGD records. Work within all medicines polices and standard operating procedures Support medicines audits and compliance. Support quality improvement and provide technical knowledge to support transforming the way that the Trust deals with medicines to optimise their use operationally. You will support the review and management of any alerts, incidents, serious incidents, near misses pertaining to medicines as requiredSupport the Chief Pharmacist to ensure that the Trust is compliant with the legal and statutory requirements for medicines management, medicines and Controlled Drugs.

      Main duties of the job

      You will be required to support safe, effective and efficient use of medicines across North East Ambulance Service. Providing technical support to specialist areas of ambulance practice

      Supporting the Medicines Manager with technical and operational aspects of medicines management and medicines governance across the trust which includes supply, safe storage and disposal of medicines including Controlled Drugs.

      Maintain computerised databases to assist with stock management, expiry date checking, stock rotation and PGD records.

      Follow all medicines polices and standard operating procedures across the trust, support medicines audits and audit compliance which will provide assurance to the Medicines Optimisation Group

      Respond to enquiries from healthcare professionals regarding medication governance and supply arrangements. Ensure compliance with medicines legislation for security, storage and use. Advise clinicians and other healthcare professionals on the safe storage of medicines.

      Support the Chief Pharmacist to ensure that the Trust is compliant with the legal and statutory requirements for medicines management, medicines and Controlled Drugs. Ensure medicines governance and continuously improving the quality of patient care.
