      Job summary

      We are looking for a Pharmacy Techician to work 30 hours a week over 4 days.

      To support the Practice in maximising outcomes for patients from medicines with and emphasis on safety, governance, professional collaboration and patient engagement. The core themes are based on:

      • Integrate care around the patient
      • Design implement and facilitate clinically led medicines optimisation services
      • Improve the productivity and affordability of services
      • Advise and engage healthcare professionals (where appropriate)
      • Improve patient safety and reduce risk
      • Empower patients through education and engagement
      • Deliver improved patient outcomes

      Main duties of the job

      Main duties of the job

      • Undertaking patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use through shared decision-making conversations with patients.
      • Carrying out medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicines administration, supporting medication reviews, and medicines optimisation. Where required, utilise consultation skills to work in partnership with patients and their carers to ensure they use their medication effectively.
      • Support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for patients, linking with local community pharmacists as necessary/appropriate.
      • Provide specialist expertise, where competent, to address both the public health and social care needs of patients.
      • Take a central role in the clinical aspects of shared care protocols liaising with clinical pharmacists for more complex patients.
      • Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
      • Work with the PCN and the Dispensary to ensure medicines optimisation, including implementing efficient ordering and return processes and reducing wastage.
      • Provide training and support on the legal, safe and secure handling of medicines including the implementation of the Electronic Prescription Services (EPS).

      We are a 5 Partner dispensing Practice with around 10,600 patients located in a beautiful market town.

      Staff you will join a great team of helpful professionals and colleagues. You will work closely with our Dispensary and Clinical Pharmacist assisting in dealing with medication queries, hospital discharge letters and medicines management and audit work.

      Building we have a modern, spacious building with free staff parking. We also have a large bright and comfy staff room where staff meet daily for networking and coffee.

      Primary Care Network we are part of the Pershore and Upton PCN and work closely with our neighbouring practices..

      The practice has 10 GPs, 1 GP Registrar, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 4 Specialist Practice Nurses, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, 1 Pharmacy Technician and 2 Healthcare Assistants.

      Essential

      • Understanding of prescribing and medicines management issues.
      • Good clinical pharmaceutical knowledge including terminology.
      • Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy law and ethics and current legislation.
      • Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data.
      • Good interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
      • Good communications skills, verbal and written, with ability to adjust communication style and content to suit audience.
      • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
      • Able to work in a busy environment and prioritise tasks effectively whilst also supporting others.
      • Ability to accept guidance and constructive criticism.
      • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
      • Demonstrates attention to detail, able to work accurately, identify errors quickly and easily.
