      Job Title: Phlebotomist III - Avondale


      Job Description

      We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist III to join our team in Avondale. The successful candidate will perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information. This role requires precise handling and storage of specimens, as well as clear communication with patients regarding the collection process.

      Responsibilities

      • Perform blood draws and label specimens.
      • Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
      • Decontaminate and update patient information.
      • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
      • Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
      • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
      • Understand and execute physicians' orders accurately.
      • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
      • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
      • Ensure 100% accuracy of test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
      • Package specimens for transport.
      • Store specimen samples according to required temperatures.
      • Place samples in appropriate containers and label them correctly.
      • Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.
      • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
      • Attend annual department training sessions.
      • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

      Essential Skills

      • Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques.
      • Experience in performing venipunctures.
      • Ability to troubleshoot and make workflow recommendations.
      • Minimum of 6 months' work experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
      • High School Diploma or GED.
      • 5-7 years of experience in the field.

      Work Environment

      The work environment is fast-paced, typically within a lab or hospital setting. You will be required to adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations, ensuring safety and compliance. This role involves regular interaction with patients and handling of specimens with precision.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $24.59/hr.
