  Job Title: Phlebotomist II

  Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
  • Update patient information and collect specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously, and demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.
  • Understand and comply with all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
  • Follow procedures specific to protocol necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

  Essential Skills

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (if required).
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, with a preference for 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  Work Environment

  The position involves floating between multiple sites. 8-hr shift falls between the hours of 6am-8:00pm. Candidate must be flexible to working Saturdays as well.

  Pay and Benefits

  The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
