      Job summary

      Manor Park Surgery are looking for a phlebotomist to join our nursing team on a 12-month fixed term contract for 20-25 hours per week. Our team currently consist of 5 nurses, 1 nursing associate and 4 healthcare assistants. Though experience is desirable, we are open to this being a training post if the right person applies. After a period of supervision, you will work independently as part of the nursing team to perform venepuncture and collect and process patient samples. As part of the nursing team, you will be the point of communication within the multi-disciplinary team. You will also work to help actively engage the population in health promotion for patients and their families. You will be expected to work to practice policy and protocols and always maintain good infection prevention and control standards.

      The post will also include some administrative duties.

      Performs venepuncture following correct procedures

      Has a good understanding of the nature and purpose of the routine and specialist biomedical investigations/interventions required.

      Communicate effectively with nursing and clinical staff regarding advice/clarification of test requests

      Urine and sample testing following practice protocol

      To collect lifestyle data from patients, including smoking status, alcohol consumption and exercise

      To refer the patient to another clinician when appropriate

      Part Time Phlebotomist, Manor Park Surgery, Bramley, LS13 2UP, working Monday - Friday between the hours of 07:30 - 18:00.

      An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our nursing team as a Phlebotomist at Manor Park Surgery. You will work under the direct supervision of a lead nurse and strictly in accordance to practice guidelines and protocols.

      This role will be subject to you passing a 6-month probationary period.

      • Previous experience of working within the health and social care environment or other appropriate customer facing role
      • An understanding of the importance of good infection prevention and control in primary care
      • Confidence and ability to work autonomously in a busy environment

      • An understanding of safeguarding, GDPR and data handling in healthcare

      Desirable

      • Trained and experienced phlebotomist
      • Previous use of System One or EMIS
      • Previous experience of working in general practice
      • An understanding of the role of the nursing team in general practice
