Job summary
We are a friendly, "family-like" GP Practice looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team on a temporary basis providing short-term to long-term cover. We have a very supportive, flexible, and forward-thinking Nursing and HCA team and pride ourselves on strong team working.
We require someone to work a minimum of 16 hours over 4 mornings per week but also welcome applicants looking for more hours.
Main duties of the job
Our ideal candidate will:
- Participate in the provision of phlebotomy services
- Manage laboratory samples for the Practice
- Dip/review urine samples
About us
The Vine Medical Centre is located in a purpose-built medical centre in Maidstone, Kent.
We have an established Clinical Team comprising of 4 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, a Trainee Nursing Associate, a Healthcare Assistant, a Clinical GP Assistant, 2 Clinical Pharmacists and a Pharmacy Technician. This is in addition to on-site Physiotherapists, Mental Health Practitioners, a Social Prescriber, a Podiatrist, any many other Professionals. We are a training Practice and regularly have a variety of students at all levels of study.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will offer general assistance to the Practice clinical team, liaising closely with the Practice Nursing Team.
The Practice Phlebotomist will be involved primarily in:
- Assisting in the provision of a phlebotomy service
- The management of laboratory samples for the Practice
- Urinalysis
- Cleaning and sterilising instruments and equipment
- Maintenance of equipment, including keeping records of when external checks are due, e.g. calibration
The Practice Phlebotomist will also be responsible for:
- Documenting Patient consultations in the clinical system
- Maintaining appropriate records to ensure continuity and quality of care for Patients
- Involvement in Practice development, identifying service changes and in line with clinical needs locally
- Maintaining records of appointments and other administrative duties
- Maintaining skills at the current level and undertaking such training and development as required to maintain personal competency
- Participation in all activities required by CQC registration
