      Position Summary:

      The Secondary Physical Education-Health Teacher instructs students in physical education and health, promoting physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, and overall well-being. This role involves developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will inspire students to lead healthy and active lives and possess the skills to teach both Physical Education and Health at the secondary level.

      What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)

      Instructional Delivery and Curriculum Development

      • Instruct students through lectures, demonstrations, and the use of audiovisual aids and supplementary materials.
      • Prepare course objectives and outlines following curriculum guidelines and state/school requirements.
      • Assign lessons and provide constructive feedback on homework.

      Student Assessment and Communication

      • Administer tests and assessments to evaluate student progress and record results.
      • Issue progress reports to inform parents of student achievement.
      • Maintain accurate attendance records.
      • Meet with parents to discuss student progress and address any concerns.

      Classroom Management and Student Support

      • Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom and physical activity environment.
      • Counsel students on academic and personal adjustment issues related to health and physical activity.
      • Assist students in selecting appropriate courses of study.

      Professional Development and School Involvement

      • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
      • Sponsor and/or assist with extracurricular activities and student organizations.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)

      • Bachelor's degree in Education from a four-year college or university.
      • Missouri State Certification in Physical Education (K-12) AND Health (K-12).

      In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need: (Preferred Qualifications)

      • Demonstrated experience and/or training in current techniques and skills in teaching secondary level students.
      • Teaching experience in urban schools.

      Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

      Terms of Employment: 8 hours per day; 5 days/week; 187 work days.
