- Keeps management informed on current technologies and industry trends for the best use and application of video surveillance, access control, fencing, lighting and intrusion detection systems.
- Conducts field site visits to inspect buildings and grounds ensuring sufficient and appropriate physical security technologies are installed and deployed at existing and new facilities.
- Leads and coordinate access control, video surveillance and communication system installations with skilled trades, vendors and security integrator.
- Partners with internal stakeholders to continually improve detection of security related issues and concerns using preventative technology, measures and controls.
- Coordinates security vendor / integrator preventative maintenance and repairs to security systems and components
- Develops and updates site security plans for all applicable properties and sites.

Collaborate with physical security engineering who implements & supports security technology and controls to address vulnerabilities.
- Support various compliance requirements to include NERC, CIP, FERC and TSA.
- Acts as a safety & security advocate and supporter of best practices to further the organizations safety & security principles and initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in a physical security environment with knowledge of surveillance, access control and intrusion detection systems. Including 5+ years of experience in the design of physical security systems and 3+ years of experience conducting physical security assessments.
- Knowledge & experience with CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles.
- Prior project management experience with an emphasis in security is preferred.
- Full and complete working knowledge of safe work practices and safety rules required.
- Effective communications, interpersonal, and organizations skills required.
- Other combinations of education and work experience may be considered.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation preferred.

The Physical Security Expert is responsible for coordination and oversight of physical security systems, installation and maintenance. This is accomplished in collaboration with business partners, contractors and vendors in the delivery and support of security systems to protect the people and assets of Avista. This position supports the Enterprise Security team reporting to the Manager of Physical Security and serves as the subject matter expert for company physical security systems and deployments. Reviews and analyzes current and proposed physical security technologies to ensure the most up to date systems are incorporated into the design of new and rebuilt facilities. Reviews site construction plans to ensure that physical security systems and access control technologies are properly incorporated into plans and ensures all security measures comply with Avista’s physical security protection standards. The majority of the work requires strong collaboration with asset subject matter experts for analyzing, designing, planning, and implementing security solutions.ResponsibilitiesRequirements
