    • Form partnerships with school staff and administration to promote an effective physical therapy plan of care for students in need

    • Provide physical therapy to students in accordance with the Georgia Physical Therapy Act

    • Examine and evaluate eligible students’ strengths and needs to establish their ability to participate in meaningful school activities and routines with or without assistance

    • Adapt environments to facilitate student access and participation in the educational program

    • Function as a consultant to other school personnel, parents, guardians, and students to coordinate the delivery of physical therapy services

    • Participate in the IEP/504 process, including collaboratively determining the need for physical therapy as a related service ( IDEA) or as a reasonable accommodation ( 504)

    • Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students

    • Demonstrates appropriate consultative skills in parent, teacher and student conferences

    • Utilizes assigned technology to maintain required documentation of services rendered

    • Refer students to other related service personnel and to healthcare providers as appropriate

    • Serve as a liaison among school, medical personnel, and medical equipment vendors

    • Excellent oral and written communication skill; organization and time management

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

      The Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, shall appoint the School Physical Therapist. The annual period of service shall be 190 days.

      PRIMARY FUNCTION:

      The school Physical Therapist develops implements and coordinates a physical therapy program within the schools; providing screening, evaluations and intervention services to students.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

      QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.       EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: degree in physical therapy from an accredited program; licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Georgia

      EVALUATION: Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel
