      Job Title: Physical Therapy Technician, 'Super Tech' position

      Department: PT

      Reports to: Clinic Director

      FLSA Status:

      Non-Exempt

      Position Summary:

      Prepare patients and equipment for physical therapy treatment. Perform tasks to maintain the department in an orderly condition. Prepare equipment such as biofeedback, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ice and hot packs. Remove and replace braces, splints, and slings from patient bodies before and after treatment. Assist physical therapist to support patient during ambulation and balance training, and with exercises and home exercise programs. Change linens and cleans and stores equipment after use. Interface with patients/customers prior to, during and after appointments. Develop and maintain customer relations. Coordinate with various staff within to ensure patient/customer requests are handled appropriately and in a timely manner. Calls to patients and medical offices. Scheduling patients and building therapist's schedules in Epic.

      Essential Functions:

        • Create positive first impressions with all patients/customers
        • Display outstanding service to all internal and external customer
        • Prepare and sanitize treatment room for the patients
        • Understand the uses of stationary bikes, pulley systems, exercise/medicine balls, plyometric boxes, rebounder, weight equipment, mobilization tables and benches, progressive resistive exercises as designed by the Physical Therapist
        • Prepare equipment such as biofeedback, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ice and hot packs
        • Remove and replace braces, splints, and slings from patient bodies before and after treatment
        • Assist physical therapist to support patient during ambulation and balance training, exercises and home exercise programs
        • Stocking of clinical and office supplies
        • Schedule patient appointments using established systems
        • Perform data entry of protected health information
        • Operate multi-line phone system
        • Fax, mail and file medical records and related sensitive documents
        • Communicate effectively with clinic and billing staff regarding patient matters
        • Communicate effectively with referring providers and their office staff
        • Communicate effectively with patients/clients, the public and all members of the healthcare team
        • Maintain strictest confidentiality while adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
        • Execute all other duties assigned

      Non-Essential Functions:

        • Perform effectively as a member of a team
        • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts
        • Participate in professional development, educational activities and attends staff meetings

      Qualifications/Skills:

        • High school diploma or equivalent required

      Qualifications:

      High school degree. We would prefer this position for a student looking to go into PT, OT, PA-C, medical school or other healthcare field. Although we prefer this to be an 18-month position, we will consider all candidates.
