      Massachusetts General Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy departments are seeking an outpatient aide. This unique position requires cross training in both physical and occupational therapy; however, the primary responsibilities will be in the physical therapy department.
      Responsibilities include ordering and maintaining supplies, assisting with patient care under the direction and supervision of a therapist, and maintaining the department's infection control and cleaning procedures and other administrative tasks as assigned.
      The physical therapy department primarily treats patients with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, pediatric and oncology conditions. This candidate must have good communication skills be well organized and someone that could initiate work on their own. This position is excellent for anyone who is interested in pursuing physical therapy, occupational therapy or any other allied health care job. It provides you with excellent patient care experience and a supportive environment.


      Job Summary

      This position performs clinical tasks such as applying superficial heat/cold modalities, performing therapeutic exercise programs, functional training and patient ambulation by following direction/delegation by a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant. The PT Aide prepares patient waiting and treatment areas for treatment sessions, including maintaining and ordering linen/supplies and equipment inventory/maintenance. In addition, the position performs registration and scheduling for the PT team as required.


      Qualifications

      Education
      High School Diploma or Equivalent required; CPR certification preferred.

      Effective interpersonal and communication skills and strong computer skills are required to succeed in this position. This would be an ideal position for someone pursuing a PT degree.
