      With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

      This position is located at the Department of Mental Health and worked within Inpatient Services.

      As the Physical Therapy Aide, you will assist in providing specialized Physical Therapy services to culturally diverse adolescents through geriatric and psychiatric populations with care based on individualized care plans pertaining to PT under the direct and indirect supervision of the Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant. Provides equipment repair /configuration (PT specific). Carries out plan of treatment in Maintenance Rehab program, provides guidance and assists other CNA's in performing duties related to PT. Performs Reimbursement and Performance Improvement duties as related to PT Department.

      R esponsibilities include but are not limited to:
      • Assists Therapist during Evaluations, Screenings, Wound Care, exercise, gait and carrying out PT Plan of Care for Inpatient Services as indicated. Assists with physical therapy procedures per SC PT Aide scope of practice. Assists in Maintenance/Restorative Rehab, performs varied assignments related to providing care including assisting with personal cleanliness and hygiene, Transport Resident's to/from Therapy as required.
      • Prepares, cleans, and maintains treatment areas and equipment. Assists in providing a safe and therapeutic environment, inspecting equipment for safety prior to use.
      • Carries out under PT supervision (indirect and direct as indicated) Rehab Maintenance program and documents response to session each visit in (EMR) My Unity Touchscreen.
      • Assists Therapist in coordinating daily PT Schedule for lnpatient Services, copies and files PT records as indicated, attaches pertinent PT documentation in My Unity in Rehab section of EMR. Contacts other facilities within DMH to secure copies of required forms and Physician signatures as required in a timely manner. Tabulates daily and monthly statistics for PI/ billing for Inpatient Services.
      • Mentors newly hired staff and or other CNAs as required, assists with new staff/ student orientation in PT department. Attends Resident Care Conference & committee meetings upon request of PT Supervisor/Rehab Director. Attends and/or completes all mandatory education training required by facility.

      State Requirement: A high school diploma or GED.

      Agency Requirement:
      A high school diploma or equivalent, at least one (1) year of Clinical experience. Must possess a current SC Nurse Aide Certification and current driver's license.

      Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. The selected candidate must be able to travel between facilities, lift more than 50 lbs. repetitively as required with Treatments, and be flexible. Must pass written Rehab Aide test after completion of on-the-job training in the PT Department and be competent providing Rehab Maintenance program under supervision of PT/PTA.
