      Position Summary:

      The Department of Internal Medicine is currently recruiting a Full Time Pulmonary / Critical Care Physician to join a dynamic team delivering care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role combines critical care, inpatient pulmonary consults and procedures, outpatient pulmonary clinics, and academic teaching responsibilities. The exact percentage of pulmonary vs. critical care time will be tailored to the candidate's interest and departmental needs.

      Responsibilities include:

      • Dedicated time rounding in the ICU, as well as procedures and to the response and resuscitation of critically ill patients.
      • Nights shared equally on a rotating schedule.
      • Rounding on the inpatient pulmonary service, including bronchoscopy and other procedures.
      • Regularly scheduled pulmonary clinics.
      • Supervision and teaching of residents and medical students from varied specialties.
      • EPIC EMR system.
      • The Physician is responsible for administering and interpreting all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations within the inpatient and/or outpatient setting.
      • This position will also educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments; may also conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient healthcare provider.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Must be comfortable working independently and in multi-disciplinary teams within a large public/county facility treating high acuity patients with complex medical diagnoses.
      • Must be able to demonstrate a high-level working knowledge in the area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area.
      • Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and oral communication skills.
      • Must be self-directed and take the initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach.
      • Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior such as end-of-life decisions, advance directives, estimating prognosis, and counseling of patients and their families.

      Duties and Essential Job Functions:

      • Coordinates multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize patient care.
      • Reviews patient medical charts to diagnose, treat, and provide care management and education to patients and families.
      • Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.
      • Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group.
      • Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Demonstrates patient-centered and patient-valued behavior.
      • Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care.
      • Supports academic, educational, and research endeavors.
      • Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.
      • Partners and communicates with acumen to build a positive brand and patient/customer experience for those who encounter JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group. This would include health network staff, vendors, outside partners, patients, stakeholders, and local community leaders.
      • Serves as a resource for the community.
      • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

      Qualifications:

      Required Education and Experience:

      • Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
      • Residency training in Internal Medicine; fellowship training in Pulmonary Medicine (if applicable) and Critical Care Medicine.

      - NOTE: Critical care physicians from other recognized pathways are encouraged to apply.

      Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

      • Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas.

      Required:

      - Board Certification in Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine (if applicable)

      - Internal Medicine (if applicable) or other board certification pathway as applicable.

      Preferred:

      - Neuro-Critical Care Medicine board eligibility.
