      Overview of the Role:

      We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable Pickleball Instructor to lead group clinics and private lessons for players of various skill levels and ages. The ideal candidate will create a positive, inclusive, and development-focused environment that promotes athletic growth, sportsmanship, and a love for the game. The coach also serves as a primary point of contact between players, parents, and Sports & Recreation administrative staff to ensure clear communication and a high-quality program experience. This position requires flexibility, including evenings and weekend availability to accommodate clinics and lessons.
      Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

      • Plan and lead engaging pickleball clinics for youth and adults, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game fundamentals.
      • Conduct one-on-one private training sessions tailored to individual skill levels and goals.
      • Create age-appropriate, progressive lesson plans that accommodate varying abilities and promote continual improvement.
      • Provide constructive feedback and encourage players to build confidence and resilience.
      • Foster a safe and respectful training environment, promoting positive values and sportsmanship.
      • Maintain equipment and ensure the court is set up and ready for each session as well as cleaning up after each session.
      • Communicate effectively with parents, participants, and staff regarding schedules, progress, and any concerns.
      • Assist with the promotion and scheduling of clinics and private lessons.
      • Complete documentation regarding incidents or accidents
      • Communicate with clients, volunteers and staff as needed
      • Promote the PJCC’s Core Values and support the overall mission and goals of the PJCC.
      • Physical presence on site is an essential job function.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications


      Qualifications & Skills:

      • Previous experience coaching pickleball or playing at a competitive level required.
      • Strong understanding of pickleball rules, strategies, and fundamentals.
      • Ability to lead clinics, develop player skills, and foster teamwork and sportsmanship.
      • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children, teens and adults in a recreational or athletic setting.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with youth participants, parents, and staff.
      • Must be dependable, organized, and able to manage a group with authority and care.
      • CPR/First Aid certification required, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
      • Background check clearance is required.
      • Availability for evenings and weekends is essential.

      Equipment Use :
      Knowledge of set-up and maintenance of a variety of sport equipment.

      Education/Experience:

      High School Diploma or equivalent required. Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
