      Position Summary

      Provide on-site Heat Treatment services for weld preparation and post weld heat treatment

      Experience Level

      Intermediate

      Primary Responsibilities and Duties

      • Coordinate pre and PWHT activities and provide required pre and PWHT documentation.
      • Assist in the development of preheat and PWHT plans for the project.
      • Communicate safety issues
      • Attach heaters to piping, thermocouple operation, color-code conductors and connect conductors
      • Placement of thermocouple for correct heater zone control for both preheat and post weld heat-treatment
      • Execute on the rules for gradient insulation and how much insulation is required
      • Connect heaters and thermocouples to heat-treating console
      • Set up and operate the heat-treating console, programmer, controllers and recorder
      • Read recorder strip charts to determine temperatures, soak time, rise and fall rates
      • Trouble-shoot preheat and PWHT and document any work performed
      • Perform end of shift walk downs of all pre and PWHT operations
      • Maintain pre and PWHT equipment and report needed calibrations and equipment repairs
      • May be asked to assist in training and supervising Heat Treat Jr. Techs

      Qualifications

      • May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
      • Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
      • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
      • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.

      Requirements

      • Able to meet all physical requirements.
      • Must have all required tools
      • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
      • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
      • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
      • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
