Department Overview:
The City of Monona (population 8.789) is located on the southern and eastern shores of Lake Monona. With it's own Administration, Planning & Community Development, Library, Parks & Recreation, Public Works, Police, and Fire/EMS departments, Monona offers internship, seasonal, and post-graduate job opportunities for UW students. Monona is a short car, bike, or bus ride (routes 38, G, and L) from the UW campus.
Anticipated Hours Per Week
20 Schedule:
Average 15-20 hours per week; flexible schedule with remote work options available for a portion of the hours. Some late afternoon/evening meetings required as needed.
Salary/Wage Range:
Hourly $22.00 to $25.00 Number Of Positions
1 Position Summary/Job Duties:
Under the general direction of the Director of Planning and Economic Development, the Planner I position provides support for planning and zoning administration for the City of Monona. The role assists with daily functions including customer service, education and outreach for the department as well as support for Committee and Commission administration.
This is an hourly part-time position requiring 15-20 hours per week. A subsidized Madison Metro monthly pass is available , as well as paid attendance to the APA-Wisconsin Annual Conference. New graduates and those attending graduate school are encouraged to apply.
This position will be open until filled.Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Urban Planning or related field and 1 to 3 years of professional planning experience (or equivalent) is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or related field and 1 year of professional experience (or equivalent) is preferred.
GIS and graphic design experience is desirable.Physical Demands
Professional office environment: routine use of computer, phone, photocopier. Largely sedentary role; some filing is required. Application Instructions:
