Job Description

- Provides planning and procurement information to the MRP manager as well as plant supervision
- Maintains proper inventories for packaging, components and raw materials
- Maintains professional working relationships with vendors and plant support groups
- Works with the MRP manager to ensure all new items are properly planned and executed
- Works on all priority items in timely manner
- Maintains scheduled quantities that will cover the requirements and coordinate capacity concerns while executing a workable production schedule using Oracle and Rough-Cut Capacity reports
- Ensures their departments have the necessary reports daily and weekly
- Monitors Engineering Change Order to ensure use-up methods are in place and new materials are requisitioned. Monitor manufacturing changes as affected by Engineering Change Orders
- Monitors and correct any balances on jobs, shortages, including maintaining purchase order releases
- Maintains purchase orders and inventory
- Communicates with buyers, vendors, and customers to resolve issues and/or requests
- Alerts MRP management to any schedule changes
- Ensures all position and department metrics are achieved
- Aids and assist in training of new planners
- Runs and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports for corporate and facility. Reports include RCP, inventory usage and shortage reports, and Daily Production Meeting reports
- Runs daily production and any corporate meetings in manager’s absence
- Identifies materials management system improvements and drives improvement planning
- Focuses on Inventory reduction and accuracy metrics for plant
- Performs additional duties as assigned
- Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and internal customers
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point at an intermediate level
- Extensive knowledge of planning reports
- Ability to clearly communicate to management with a high level of understanding
- Ability to train and coach others
- Ability to make complex decisions and to exercise independent judgement with limited instructions and guidance
- Associate degree in business or related field required, bachelor’s degree preferred
- CPIM Certification preferred
- Minimum of two years working knowledge of materials planning systems in manufacturing environment
- Up to 10% may be required

About the roleThis position is responsible for scheduling, releasing, and maintaining schedules for finished goods and fabricated components as well as executing purchase order releases and expedites for raw materials relevant to their areas. Planner II has a complete understanding of the Leviton manufacturing process and how all disciplines interact with each other. Planner II is able to assist Materials Manager with complex tasks and projects as assigned as well as train and assist the MRP planners.
