      Summary

      The Entry Level Plant Cost Accountant will support the finance team by analyzing costs associated with our manufacturing operations and help to maintain accurate financial records. This role will also support our onsite Production Manager in managing our regular production schedule. This person will coordinate with the local department heads and with temporary staffing agencies for proper scheduling while keeping within our company standards.


      This is an in-person position based in Fresno, California at our Fresno facility. No relocation assistance is expected to be provided for this role and we are unable to sponsor visas for this position.


      Key Responsibilities

      • Analyze the cost of production, including direct materials, labor and overhead costs.
      • Partner closely with the head of finance to ensure proper allocation of overhead and indirect costs to products, to ensure accurate representation of the true cost of production.
      • Regularly analyze discrepancies between expected costs and actual costs of production.
      • Maintain production schedules, anticipating potential changes based on supply and customer needs. Partner closely with the Production Manager to ensure production is efficient and follows policy and process.
      • Input and track work orders within the company ERP system. Partner closely with the production and warehouse team to ensure proper process is followed.
      • Assist the production manager in the development of reports for senior leadership on production performance, schedule variances, and mitigation plans. Maintain accurate records of production schedules, material usage, machine performance, and any delays or changes.
      • Ensure continuous alignment with standards and policies on all production.
      • Work closely with Customer Service to forecast demand and adjust production schedules as needed to meet customer orders and seasonal fluctuations.
      • Identify areas of improvement in the production planning and scheduling process, and work with senior leadership to implement more efficient systems and practices. Report any violations or deviations of the production process to leadership when appropriate.
      • Other duties as assigned.


      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (recent graduates welcome).
      • Basic understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting concepts.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.
      • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
      • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
      • Willingness to be on-site in a plant/production setting and engage with cross-functional teams.
      • Internship or prior experience in a manufacturing or cost accounting role is preferred.
      • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
      • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
      • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
      • Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and process optimization.
      • A proactive, flexible attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
      • Possess willingness to be a change agent with a mindset to improve the process.
