Coordinates workloads, checks, inspects, and monitors activities in assigned work by use of computerized maintenance management system. Orders parts and equipment (following proper procedure) to complete assigned projects. Expedites work orders and regularly monitors time & materials required. Reviews work in progress as necessary for timeliness and compliance to job specifications. Investigates delays, solves problems, and makes recommendations for completion of work in a timely manner
Oversees the work of contractors, vendors, and hospital staff involved in construction activities. Completes as appropriate, infection control construction risk assessments and follows up with the Infection Control Practitioner of any planned construction, renovation, demolition and installation activities prior to start of any construction project. Assists the Safety Officer with evaluating and establishing interim life safety measures to temporarily compensate for hazards imposed by construction activity or any other compromise of life safety
Monitors work in progress assuring projects are completed according to designed specifications, NFPA, Life Safety Code requirements, and National Electric Code requirements.
Maintains compliance with Joint Commission, federal, state and local standards and regulations. Maintains required documentation.
Assist with accounts payable, badging, records retention, and other administrative functions as needed
Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing equipment. Tests and maintains emergency generators and transfer switches. Measures, cuts, threads, and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit. Ensures that all circuits are properly wired and protected according to federal, state, and local codes. Performs preventive maintenance on electrical switches & controls.
Monitors and periodically checks building conditions per the hospital's building maintenance program. Initiates corrections when needed to ensure that the safety features of buildings are not compromised. Performs safety inspections of hospital equipment, e.g., electrical receptacles, and electrical appliances. Assures that all records are updated.
- High School Diploma or GED, Required
- Technical or Vocational degree, Preferred
- Four year technical apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training
- Experience in building trades with ability to perform mechanical repairs
- Must have management, supervisory, or team lead experience
- Ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, visitors and the general public
- Ability to make independent decisions and instruct others in the performance of tasks
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Knowledgeable in the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), Preferred

Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, provides facility operations assistance, assigns, and executes maintenance, construction, repair and testing activities for all hospital property including grounds and utilities. Performs general, routine maintenance and servicing operations. Under direction of the Director of Facilities/Safety Officer, coordinates activities that support an appropriate and well-maintained Environment of Care, the facility's life safety building maintenance program, and ICRA/PCRA Interim Life Safety Measure requirements to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. All other duties as assigned.
