- Continuously builds an intimate insight and knowledge of fiberglass technical processes, production lines and their products
- Passion for understanding what is necessary for the asset to be productive and the value that our current and future assets bring to the business
- Has the responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction is paramount in designing, implementing and maintaining processes and quality systems.
- Identifying and understanding the critical product characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality product
- Developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations
- Supporting experiments or trials for new and existing products to ensure they meet customer’s fitness for use
- Customer complaint support including service exceptions and claim dollars
- Responsible for supporting investigations of all customer complaints, determining root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
- Safe, clean and environmentally friendly work environment, and becoming and maintaining to be compliant with company and local regulation
- Ensuring that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical operation of the production lines ensure the safety of employees
- Building a culture where safety is a true condition of employment
- Implementing a personal safety action plan
- Provides leadership of all quality initiatives in the Plant
- Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of quality processes and procedures in the Plant, all working toward achieving the quality goals of the Plant and delighting the customer
- Managing the training of primary employees in the quality lab
- Training employees in process control procedures
- Works to develop and implement quality control plans
- Works in a team environment where accountability for compliance of all quality systems and customer satisfaction is incumbent on both the leadership team and the individual.
- Partnering with maintenance to develop and implement total productive maintenance plans for equipment to ensure employee understanding and ownership
- Individual quality goals and objectives
- Executes/participates capital projects related to quality, TPM, Improvement projects or others as needed
- Provides QM Pillar Leadership for the QM Pillar team
- Driving progress towards process optimization by studying and analyzing performance data then developing and deploying engineering solutions
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Participate in Product Quality Planning (impact analysis, preliminary capability, FMEA, Quality Plan, training needs)
- Applies hands on technical troubleshooting skills to existing processes with quality problems
- Ensures customer requirements are met by reviewing specifications and internal work instructions
- Develop and report metrics to drive improvement efforts, govern the training process, and oversee record retention and documentation control
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, preferably in chemical, mechanical, or material engineering
- A minimum of 1-3 years of technical experience in a variety of roles such as engineering, maintenance or manufacturing
- Six Sigma or lean manufacturing experience
- Familiar with ISO 9001 type quality systems
- Knowledge and experience in project management

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Quality Engineer demonstrates teamwork and commitment to the success of Owens Corning. The Quality Engineer is a recognized leader that demonstrates Owens Corning’s values and a commitment to high performance. The Quality Engineer plans, strategizes and evaluates quality assurance process through examining the systems, measures and statistical techniques. S/he will participate in creating and analyzing operations and restrictions regarding services. Individual will participate in auditing, generating and executing training on quality assurance concepts and equipment. Quality Engineer will collaborate with other engineering business-partners within the Owens Corning organization, along with customers and suppliers. S/he will inspect quality equipment and recommend improvements.
